GLASGOW

The Tollbooth Bar is a one roomed corner pub with entrances from the corner and the longer, with etched arched windows, side. From the corner entrance the room is L-shaped with the bar servery in the far corner and round to the left side.  There is seating along the wall under the windows but it is mainly standing or stools beside the servery.  It has an attractive dark wood gantry. Opposite the servery at junction of wall and ceiling is a lifesize paper mache upside down fireplace complete with candlesticks. As well as the usual lots of tennent’s taps (four) there are four Guinness taps.

It is an Irish pub without being themed.

The Old Empire Bar is a small bar spreading out from a point and underneath a railway line. The arrowhead of the pub becomes visible walking down from the Tollbooth bar.  On the left is the entrance to the bar which has some windows and to the right is the entrance to the lounge.  Going in the left side bar door the widest space is in the point of the bar to the right of the entrance. Against the wall to the left is the servery. There is not much room between the counter and the wall for customers - enough room for a stool and a walk past up to the small square lounge.

Vinyl Bar is a small but cosy café-bar offering food. A small two-sided square wooden servery nestles in the far left corner with a window through to the kitchen. The counter has stools running round both sides. As name suggest there is music memorabilia on the walls. There is a line of tables outside on pavement while inside has eight
small dining tables with chairs.

Braemar is a one roomed corner bar with a triangular set up inside. The servery is angled across the corner between both doors. The bar seems recently and tastefully done up with walls painted shades of grey, a nicely tiled name below the counter and furniture looking new. Round tables and two seater padded benches.

The Old Burnt Barns has a corner door with outside seating either side of it. Inside there is seating to the right and then an attractive servery along the right wall with an old dark wood gantry with carvings The marble counter has a wooden frontage There is a tiled floor for the  length of servery then beyond it becomes wooden and there a seating area with half a dozen tables and chairs of dark brown wood.

Calton Bar is a one roomed corner pub which has the entrance in the middle of the short frontage on the main road. The compact horseshoe servery is at the far end on the right wall. A pool table is set right in the entrance so a quick dance to the right where there is banquette seating under the window and up the right wall with three tables and chairs to the toilet doors just before the servery. Going left there is a DJ booth followed by banquette long tables and seating under the windows along the left wall. These windows make the room very bright.

Servery is horseshoe shaped with small old looking gantry down the middle. Counter has stools round it. Beyond servery on small back wall and window to the side is a long table area and banquette seating.

Walls papered with stones or library books except for wooden purple and pink surround for mirror on right side wall. there is wooden floor with carpet under tables. Attractive one roomed put of town bar catering for range of customers

West Brewery Bar has lots of outside seating to the side and leading up to the entrance. Once inside there is a large hall with lots of tables and high ceiling. The servery is along the right wall and has a long tall counter with glass stand and taps between customers and staff creating a stretch for service. the brewery itself brews German style beers in what was part of a carpet factory at the edge of The People’s Palace.

There are some tall tables by front door, then standing room with some barrels as drink rests and further on beyond the survey are dining style tables. Food here is part of the attraction. Dogs are welcome and water is provided for them. Payment is by card only.

 Wood panels halfway up wall then cream wall and ceiling with industrial air conditioning on show.

The Crimson Star has both a bar and lounge with separate doors and connected at rear of the rooms. Entrance to the bar is by the door nearest the corner with lounge door further down the building. The lounge is not always open.

In the bar the servery is along the right wall so it can connect to the servery for the lounge. The bar has black banquette seating around room seving small square pine tables and chairs. Mirrors are along the wall opposite servery to help reflect light as there are no outside windows on this wall. the walls above the seating and the ceiling are white with black trim.

The Windsor Bar (Rosemount Taverns) is a lovely old bar area with lounge through to the back. The lounge can also be reached via a lounge entrance a few doors to the right which gives a seperate entrance for functions. Going inside there is red banquette seating under the windows and continuing round along the left wall stopping at the servery counter. Similar seating and tables are opposite the old wooden servery with attractive wooden gantry. seating on both sides have occasional screens to break up length of seating.

A door at the back right goes into the lounge which has a small servery to the left. Brown banquette seating goes around this attractive room ideal for a variety of functions. In both rooms above seating and ceiling are white.

The Scotsman Bar is now a one roomed corner bar with entrances on both streets but would probably have had a seperate bar and lounge. The small horseshoe servery with centre gantry serves lots of locals sitting around the counter. banquette seating runs from entrance to entrance
